In 1976, people who attended the Philadelphia convention of the American Legion suffered from a fatal type of pneumonia that became known as Legionnaire's disease.

If anyone inhales small droplets of contaminated water known as aerosols containing Legionella bacterium, they can contract Legionnaire's disease.

All man-made water systems can provide an environment for legionella.

Want to protect your workforce, clients, family & friends?

A Legionella risk assessment creates a plan to ensure your water systems are safe.

legionella risk assessment

Legionella risk assessments

  • Hot and cold water systems including boilers
  • HVAC systems
  • Pipework
  • Showers & spray taps
  • Steam ovens
  • Plumbed water coolers & boilers

You must have a Legionella risk assessment of all temperature controlled water systems as the designated responsible person of a commercial or domestic property.

Our risk assessments are clear, concise and provide a colour coded action plan.

Legionella monitoring

Control & monitoring

  • Monthly temperature checks
  • Little used outlet flushing
  • Shower head disinfection
  • Thermostatic Mixing Valve (TMV) servicing
  • Legionella log book
  • Asset and outlet labelling

To comply with ACoP L8 you must carry out regular checks and document the results.

We implement a bespoke legionella log book & onsite labelling for our monthly monitoring clients.

Fortic cylinder

Abatement works and cleans

  • Cold water header tank cleans
  • Calorifier blow downs
  • Thermostatic Mixing Valve (TMV) cleans
  • Expansion vessel service
  • Silt screen cleans/replacement

Legionella bacteria is naturally in our waterways. When water is in a man-made system the bacteria proliferates (grows). It can grow uncontrollably if it has a dirty environment to feed and fix onto.

We control proliferation with a program to regularly clean, drain down and renew.

legionella plumbing

Associated plumbing works

  • Non-WRAS approved braided hosing replacement
  • Tundish installation
  • Correcting orientation of expansion vessels
  • Dead leg removal
  • Blind end removal
  • Temporary "moth balling" of unused outlets
  • Redundant tank and cylinder removal

Stagnant water in redundant pipework and tanks still connected to the water supply is a bacteria breeding ground.

We remove dead legs (redundant pipework) and can temporarily disconnect assets such as showers, this is particularly appropriate for rented premises.
