Asbestos Awareness Training

Should you be offering your employees Asbestos Awareness Training?

Asbestos is the biggest cause of work-related deaths in the UK.

5500 people die each year from Asbestos exposure – that’s double those killed on our roads.

Unprotected exposure to asbestos can lead to Mesothelioma.

If you have no intention of removing asbestos but work on buildings built or refurbished before the year 2000, asbestos could be present. You will need awareness training so you know how to avoid the risks.

It’s a legal requirement that anyone who may come across asbestos in their day to day work activities has been provided with asbestos awareness training and those that supervise their working activities. In addition, if they will intentionally work on asbestos they must have had appropriate training specific to the tasks they will undertake.

The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 includes the duty that employers shall provide appropriate training for all workers who are likely to be exposed to asbestos and if you are self-employed you must also comply with this requirement.

Training needs of individuals should be reviewed anytime the job changes, or different work practices are introduced.

Our courses cater for all, from the self-employed, small businesses to larger national organisations. The courses have been specifically developed for the construction industry and maintenance contractors including all associated trades (but not limited to):

  • Demolition workers
  • Construction workers
  • General maintenance staff
  • Electricians
